Maiden Commemoration of the Africa Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CVRS) Day
The Special Assistant to the Honourable Federal Commissioner on Administration, Kingsley Ngene and the Assistant Director PR&D, Ali Garba represented the NCFRMI at the maiden commemoration of the Africa Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CVRS) Day organized by the National Population Commission (NPC) in collaboration with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The theme of the event is “promoting innovative, universal civil registration and vital statistics system for good governance and better lives”. The Chief host Eze Duruiheoma, Chairman National Population Commission in his welcome address explained the importance of data in planning and called on all stakeholders to support the CVRS project. The UNICEF Country Representative, Mr. Mohammed in his goodwill message explained that civil registration is the right of every child, and must get the attention it deserves. He further stated that CVRS is crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and requires a holistic effort and strong political will. Other contributors include the DG of NIMC, representatives of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) among others. The book “National Strategic Action Plan on Civil Registration” was launched at the event.
