IOM Data Management and ICT Training
Joyce Opara of the Refugees and Migration Department, NCFRMI led a team to a 4-day Data Management and ICT Training, held in Kaduna State. The Exercise was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), under the sponsorship of the European Union (EU). Participants included NCFRMI staff members from the following Departments/Units: OHFC, Refugees & Migration, ICT, RSD, IDPs, PRD and Protection. Facilitators were made up of technical staff of the National Bureau of Statistic (NBS) and the IOM. The overall objective of the training is to contribute to strengthening the technical capacity of the Commission to collect, analyze and disseminate migration data, while its specific objective is to enhance the capacity of officials of relevant staff of the Commission on migration data management, collection, analysis and dissemination.
Some of the topics discussed at the interactive training include Migration Data Overview: Trends & Current realities; Institutional Data Use Policies and Governance; Migration Data Processing; Migration Dynamics; Data Quality Assessment; Survey design and methodologies; Site Assessment and DTM Tools and so on.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner, NCFRMI expressed gratitude to the IOM for the training and urged members of staff to take the exercise seriously. Again, the Chief of Mission, represented by Henry Akwitti extended his greetings to participants, as he presented a background to the programme.
