Official Visit to Benue State

The Honorable Federal Commissioner, Sadiya Umar Farouq was in Benue as part of a Federal Government delegation led by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for a 2-day working visit to Internally Displaced Persons and Stakeholders. The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, Senator George Akume, Senator Joseph Waku and Mustapha Maihaja, Director General, NEMA were also part of the delegates. The team visited Abagana, Gbajimba and Anyii Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps where they assured the IDPs that the Federal Government had concluded plans to build destroyed properties in the state affected by crisis. The Vice President reiterated the President’s interest in the resettlement, rehabilitation and reintegration of IDPs. He stated  ” three things were identified by the President which must be done, first is security, that all home destroyed are secured, the second is for the people to be able to return and to ensure that homes destroyed are rebuilt and third is that we must restore farmland so that farmers and others who engage in other activities will be able to do so.”
