Seminar on the Dangers of Irregular Migration among Youths
The Civil Society Network on Migration and Development in Nigeria, in collaboration with Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, conducted a seminar on the “dangers of irregular migration among youths”. The programme which was mainly targeted at the youths was attended by NCFRMI among various stakeholders. The Assistant Director, Refugees and Migration (NCFRMI), Charles Nwanelo was present at the event. The programme is one of the outcomes of the Commission’s decentralization workshop for the South East held in Enugu State last year, aimed at taking the migration discourse to the grassroots where decisions to migrate are taken.
In Benin City, NCFRMI and IOM held a coordination meeting to set up a reintegration Committee i.e. a sub-committee for the Technical Working Group (TWG) on forced migration, assisted voluntary return and reintegration. Key stakeholders who participated in the meeting include NAPTIP, SMEDAN, Ministry of Justice, CSO’s and other significant Government Agencies.
