TWG of the Tripartite Commission to Cameroon

The Technical Working Group of the Tripartite Commission for the repatriation of Nigerian Refugees in Cameroon, led by the Honourable Federal Commissioner, NCFRMI Sadiya Umar Farouq was in Cameroon on a working visit. The team was accompanied by NCFRMI Board Chairman, Peter Biye, Hon. Vilita Asabe and Hon. Sheriff Nur. The objective of the visit was to meet with the Refugees, listen to their concerns and to raise awareness with respect to their return. Members of the TWG met with Felix Mbayu, the Cameroonian Delegate and Minister in charge of Commonwealth matters, and assured him of the readiness of the Nigerian Government to return all Nigerian Refugees back home. They also paid a courtesy call on Governor Midjiyawa Bakary of the far north region of Cameroon. While in Cameroon, the Tripartite Commission held a technical session which was declared open by the Federal Commissioner, NCFRMI, Sadiya Umar Farouq and Governor Midjiyawa Bakary. Again, the team paid a courtesy call on the Senior Division Officer, Mokolo and visited Minawao camp which accommodates over 50,000 Nigerian Refugees. They toured the camp facilities and interacted with community, youth, religious, traditional and women leaders. The “Go and Tell” visit to Minawao Refugee Camp in Cameroon is part of the requirements of the tripartite agreement. Sadiya Umar Farouq presented care and maintenance items on behalf of the Federal Government to UNHCR- Cameroon to be distributed for the benefit of Nigerian Refugees.
