As part of its durable solutions strategy for economic stability, poverty alleviation, and financial empowerment for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has partnered with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) to launch the Renewed Hope Restoration Project (RHRR).

This groundbreaking initiative, aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies.

Speaking at the event, the Hon. Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, Hon. Tijani Ahmed, described the partnership as a significant milestone in providing sustainable solutions for IDPs in Nigeria. He called on the general public to support this initiative, emphasizing its benefits not only for IDPs but also for host communities and the nation at large.

The Executive Secretary of NALDA, Mr. Cornelius Adebayo, highlighted the key components of the partnership, including the provision of seeds, tools, resources, and opportunities to empower IDPs for self-reliance and restore hope for a better future.

Representing the Hon. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the Director of Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Valentine Ezulu, commended the collaborative efforts of NCFRMI and NALDA. He assured continued support from the Ministry for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable populations.

This partnership builds on the success of NCFRMI’s REHAEPI Agricultural Empowerment Project, launched in July 2024 in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The project has cultivated 500 hectares of land, benefiting 1,000 IDPs and refugee farmers across Nasarawa, Plateau, and Borno states.

The Renewed Hope Restoration Project represents a significant step forward in addressing the challenges faced by displaced persons, fostering economic empowerment, and ensuring a sustainable future for vulnerable communities.
